Our Mission is to provide arts and educational programs to under-resourced communities to support and motivate the youth.  Our programs foster positive, forward thinking that guides our future leaders towards a successful future.

Through creative, innovative and sustainable programs LACE provides a supportive and encouraging platform for learning that provides knowledge and instills a forward thinking mindset.

Our Programs

Our programs were selected and designed to provide opportunity and give support LACE members and allow them to explore other-wise unavailable areas of interests.  

Business & Finance

Our Business & Finance program introduces LACE members to the world of finance with an emphasis on the importance of credit management, money management, and stock market investing.  LACE members will also learn the steps to become an entrepreneur through creation of a business plan, branding, marketing, and philanthropic letters of intent.

  

Career Planning Services

LACE prepares its members by equipping them with skills and empowering them with confidence to explore career opportunities, to position them for success.  LACE members can take courses in job training, college readiness, and resume writing.

arts & Language

We offer onsite training and partner with community agencies to provide courses in Music and Broadcasting.   LACE members will be taught the fundamentals with opportunities to matriculate to advanced areas of study or apprenticeship.    

 

 

Science, TECHNOLOGY, Engineering & Math

Our S.T.E.M. program is designed to prepare LACE members for careers in Robotics, Coding, Cyber Security, Graphic Design, Web Design, and App Creation.

  Alicia K. Mannie M.B.A.,  Founder and C.E.O., Director of Marketing, Branding and Business Development  Alicia Mannie brings an extensive background in Marketing, Branding, innovation and implementation of ideas, strategic planning and most recently program development.  Alicia has over 20 years of employment experience at institutions of higher learning, providing support of major corporations and providing social services to the disabled population.  Alicia is passionate about the future of the youth and developing opportunities for them to excel. Armed with the notion that knowledge and education breaks down barriers and crashes through glass ceilings, Alicia developed a multifaceted center that strives to educate and empower.

Alicia K. Mannie M.B.A., Founder and C.E.O., Director of Marketing, Branding and Business Development

Alicia Mannie brings an extensive background in Marketing, Branding, innovation and implementation of ideas, strategic planning and most recently program development.

Alicia has over 20 years of employment experience at institutions of higher learning, providing support of major corporations and providing social services to the disabled population.

Alicia is passionate about the future of the youth and developing opportunities for them to excel. Armed with the notion that knowledge and education breaks down barriers and crashes through glass ceilings, Alicia developed a multifaceted center that strives to educate and empower.

  Kimberly L. McGee,  Vice President, Director of Communications & Community Outreach, Director of Technology and Innovation  As Vice President, Kimberly serves as the back-up to the Founder/CEO. Kimberly implements policies strategies and is responsible for all communications and operational programming. As Director of Technology and Innovation Kimberly provides the overall planning and organizing and direction of technology and innovation program content. Additional duties include collaborating with external partners, community stakeholders and business leaders.  Kimberly’s recent experience includes directing employee engagement of a fortune 100 multinational technology corporation. Kimberly has been recognized for her work in designing award winning STEM programs and is passionate to expose students to STEM concepts that spark their curiosity and imagination. Ms. McGee’s has extensive experience working with building partnerships with national non-profit agencies, local business owners, start-up companies and entrepreneurs.  Ms. McGee has a Master’s Degree in Social Administration and Public Policy from the University of Chicago School of Social Service Administration. (M.A. MSW, 2014) Kimberly graduated Cum Laude with a Bachelor’s Degree from Chicago State University (B.S. 2011) and earned an Associate’s Degree from Kankakee Community College (A.A.S. MLS 2008), in Medical Clinical Laboratory Science with expertise in Immunology, Serology, Virology, Microbiology, Hematology and Clinical Chemistry.

  Nicole Morrison , Director of Career Development  Nichole has brought a tremendous amount of positive energy, enthusiasm, experience, and knowledge to our center. Nichole has been in the field of workforce development since 1998 and is extremely passionate about connecting people to employment opportunities and seeing them get hired. Nichole shared, “I’m passionate about my profession. Not just my job but what I do entirely, which is helping people.”

  Donna McGhee,  Board Member  Donna McGhee brings talent, experience and education to LACE.  Singer, Born and raised in Brooklyn, New York.  Sung with a multitude of bands. Became a member of the loose collective around  Patrick Adams  and  Greg Carmichael  Sung with  Phreek ,  The Universal Robot Band .  Donna has over 12 years of experience working with foster children in the foster and juvenile justice system.  Donna holds a Bachelor's degree in Organizational Leadership and a Master's in Psychology, specialization in child and adolescent development.

Sung with a multitude of bands. Became a member of the loose collective around Patrick Adams and Greg Carmichael Sung with Phreek, The Universal Robot Band.

Donna holds a Bachelor's degree in Organizational Leadership and a Master's in Psychology, specialization in child and adolescent development.

Sean was named one of the inaugural, “50 Men of Excellence”, by the Chicago Defender. He was nominated for an Emmy Award for producing the Chicago Public School High School Basketball Championship game. That same year, he also wrote and produced the Emmy® Award Winning Black History Month campaign, “Snapshots in Black History”, which featured rarely seen photos of famous African-American Chicagoans. In 2008, after the unfortunate passing of comedic legend, Bernie Mac, Sean wrote and produced an Emmy Award winning hour-long documentary featuring people who knew him best, in “A Tribute to Bernie Mac”.  Sean is a member of Omega Psi Phi Fraternity, Inc. as served on several influential boards that include Black Ensemble Theater, The Friendship Foundation, The Uplift Foundation, Stomping Out Gangs and Drugs, and The Richton Park Youth Athletic League.
